JOB TITLE: TRANSITION FROM SCHOOL TO WORK TECHNICIAN

REPORTS TO: TSW Teacher/Principal

SUMMARY: Provides structured training at community job sites, acts as liaison between employers and student employees, and assists with tutoring Transition from School to Work (TSW) students according to individual academic needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in activities related to the recruitment of potential clients (students)
- Assists the TSW team by gathering student documents necessary for determining VR eligibility of student applicants
- Under the supervision of the Teacher Coordinator, implements a system for disseminating TSW information to potential employers, school personnel, students and parents
- Analyzes work sites and matches TSW students with those that are deemed appropriate by the Teacher Coordinator and VR Counselor
- Maintains and updates a system for tracking active and inactive employers
- Provides structured training at community job sites consistent with student’s targeted vocational goals
- Collects data as necessary to document student’s progress on the job
- Maintains an accurate case file on each TSW student
- Gathers and organizes information that is useful for transition planning
- When appropriate, attends transition planning meetings with eligible students
- Provide support to TSW students as deemed necessary by the team
- Provides one-on-one assistance to students in the delivery of instruction for vocational, independent living, and personal/ social content areas
- Assists with teaching the TSW curriculum as directed by the TSW Teacher Coordinator
- Attend all training seminars offered by VR and/or ADE regarding TSW procedures and practices
- Maintain a log of all activities and time spent on the TSW program
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Knowledge of data usage, including research, collection, analysis, synthesis, interpretation, and reporting
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to do detailed mathematical computations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Produce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies
- Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous related experience preferred
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
- Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance
Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Google Suite.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoors and outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures. Exposure to noise, dust, gas and fumes. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Contact with employees, students and public.
